The celebration kicks off on Thursday, 23 May – the day the zoo officially opened its gates 130 years ago.

891 ABC Adelaide Live Broadcast

891 ABC Adelaide Morning’s show with Ian Henschke will be broadcasting live from the zoo from 9:00am to 11:00pm on Thursday, 23 May (gates open to the rest of the public at 9:30pm). 30 very lucky listeners will win a chance to receive free early entry to the zoo and private animal encounters with some favourite zoo residents. The station will also be giving away another 100 entry tickets for listeners to join us for the weekend.   That’s 130 tickets to ABC 891 listeners to celebrate 130 years of Adelaide Zoo!

All visitors on the day will enjoy brief animal encounter giveaways, historical walkabout tours, face painting, McDonald’s Zoomobile presentations and craft activities.  You’ll also see our volunteers dressed in period costumes and our animals being given special birthday enrichment.

The party continues with even more entertainment.  In addition to the give-aways, competitions, animals shows and historical tours we’ll also have a bouncy castle, rides, games and special offers. Watch this space for more details soon.
