It’s one of the most popular DIY’s going. Everyone is loving this Plastic Bottle Bird Feeder Craft and you will adore them too ..
This is a lovely DIY idea that the whole family can help with and it will teach the kids about the importance of recycling.
The last thing we need is more landfill! One of the important mentions with this project is to use acrylic paint on your bottle. This will stop the sunlight penetrating the plastic.
As you can see by the Plastic Bottle version above, this craft can extend to creating nests for local birds. This is ideal if you are trying to encourage smaller birds into your yard as the larger ones won’t be able to access the whole. It will allow everyone to get a feed!
Once there is moisture around, the seeds will sprout and go moldy. You can have fun decorating the bottles with a permanent marker once they’re painted. You can get super creative like those above!
As you can see from the photos you need to cut both the bottles and glue the top or roof part onto the bottom house part, then make a hole so you can attach the string or yarn to hang it up.

The tutorial uses a 2-liter clear plastic Coke bottle for the top of the birdhouse and a 1.5-liter bottle for the bottom of the house. One handy tip is that you paint the bottles outside by putting them upside down on a stick or wooden dowel.
This will save you a lot of mess! You can simply sponge on the Acrylic Paint too and add decorative door trims, dragonflies, butterflies, some flowers or bushes to make them extra beautiful.
