Bottle Wall Materials Needed
- Old Wine Bottles
- 1/2″ Rebar
- Drill and 3/4 inch Diamond Hole Saw Bit
- Wood Frame
- Rubber Hose Washers
- Bucket of Cat Litter
Glass Bottle Wall Instructions
Start by removing any labels from the glass bottles as they’ll fade in the light and not look as attractive if you leave them on. The tutorial recommends Acetone to remove the labels as it’s inexpensive and you won’t need to soak long or scrub hard to get any bits off the bottle. Then drill a hole in the bottom of each bottle – you’ll find it’s much easier to drill the hole if you place the bottle upside down in a bucket filled with kitty litter. Pour a little water onto the bottle and start drilling at an angle.
You need a little patience at this stage but it’s well worth the results. Wash the bottles well to remove all the dust as it will set really hard if left. Now slide the 1/2″ rebar through the hole and use a rubber washer as you add each bottle to the rebar to hold in place. Drill holes in the wooden frame and insert the ends of the rebar.
