Golden Syrup Dumplings CWA Ingredients
- 2 cups (500ml) water
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup (80ml) golden syrup
- 100g butter
- 1 ½ cups self-raising flour
- ¾ cup milk (185ml)
Golden Syrup Dumplings CWA Method
Combine water, brown sugar, ¼ cup of golden syrup and 50g of the butter in a large saucepan. Stir over a low heat until melted. Set aside.
Meanwhile, use a food processor to process flour and 50g butter. Combine milk and 1 tablespoon of golden syrup. Pour into the flour and butter crumb on a low speed until a sticky dough forms. If you don’t have a food processor use your fingertips to rub the butter into flour. Then add golden syrup and milk and stir until well combined.
Bring the sauce to the boil then drop in heaped dessert spoonfuls of the mixture into the sauce. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered for 15-20 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Serve with ice-cream or cream.
