We fell head over heels when we saw these Owl Cookies and with good reason. They are easy to make and taste great!
They’re a rich buttery Cookie that is incredibly delicious. Chocolate Chips have been used for the eyes and almonds for the Beak.
If you bake them for a gift, you can wrap them in cellophane or a cute Paper Plate Cookie Box.
How To Make Owl Cookies -:
- 1/2 lb. (two sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- 40 chocolate chips
- 20 whole almonds
- 1/2 cup almond slivers
- Cocoa powder for dusting
- Parchment paper

“Butter cookies are a light and buttery cookie somewhat like a sugar cookie though not as sweet. They go really well with some tea, hot chocolate or coffee. I love them simply by themselves or with a glass of milk.
The only other flavors in this recipe are the extracts of vanilla, almond, and lemon which give them a nice flavor. I used a cookie press for these cookies which is how I remember my husband’s grandmother making these. They are absolutely wonderful.
If you don’t have a press, no worries. You can shape the dough into a log, then refrigerate this dough before slicing 1/4 inch thick cookies. The thinner the cookie, the crispier it will be. I love these because I like how they utterly melt in your mouth they are so light and buttery”
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 1/2 tsp. lemon extract
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 1 large egg or two small ones.
How To Make Butter Cookies -:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cream butter with salt and then add sugar until mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in egg(s), vanilla, almond, and lemon extracts.
Stir in flour until all combined. Pack dough in cookie press. Press shapes on a greased baking sheet or one lined with parchment paper.
You can also shape dough into a log shape, chill until firm, and then slice dough into 1/4 inch thick rounds and place on baking sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 8 to 12 minutes or until golden brown on the bottom and top.
